First tank shots, 2 weeks old.

I decided to take a few shots of the new setup. The tank is two weeks old. I purchased the rock fully cured, but they have a little green hair on them. I hope when it is time to add inhabitants, I can get something to eat it. Until then, I will just try to keep the nutrients low enough to keep it under control. There is 45 lbs of live rock in a 29 gal tank.

Overall tank shot.

Equipment storage on the side. Plans are to put an 8 gal fuge in there soon.

Well I hope you like. This is my first attempt at building a tank stand, but I think it turned out ok. I plan on added a cabinet on the right side soon to conceal a QT and water storage for top off.

I'm digging the rock as well. Where did you pick that up? I starting another tank soon (also a 29 gal) and that rock is pretty much the exact look I'm going for.

Looking good. I also am marking out to your LR. Its very nice. There is nothing better than cured LR. Good luck with the rest of the journey. Keep us updated.

Thanks

Thanks

Thank you everyone.

I purchased the LR at my LPS. I was told it came in from a customer who was getting out of the hobby. It is 45 lbs of cured rock in 5 pieces.

Yes, the water is RO/DI

:)

Very nice setup so far, it looks like you're well on your way! :)

I do see that you have alot of micro-bubbles in there though. You may want to take the air hose off your Maxi-Jet powerhead. Micro-bubbles aren't good for marine tanks (and they block the nice view). ;)

I really have not thought about fish yet. Fish will be the last thing I get. I like corals.

As for the micro bubbles, yes there are a lot in the pics. I just did my maintenance and I get bubbles on the spounge filters when I clean everthing. The go away after a day. This morning everything is clear.

IMO, lose the sponge filters on the powerheads. They become nitrate traps and cut down on the flow. Already fought that battle with my MJ's.

If you don't plan on having corals the nitrate is not that big of a deal. If you are going to have corals then yes, I would lose the sponge filters.

I personally would upgrade the skimmer. That particular model has not been well received. With a small tank it's very easy to pollute the tank so any help you can get between water changes is helpful.

Regards,

Pat

How do you like the skimmer? I am planning on picking one up this summer and want to get some reviews.
