First time DIY refugium 20 gallon long

Yah I was thinking that but thought I would put it in for the diagram to get opionions.

I can also add the other baffles later if i need to.

Thanks again,
~Joy~

I'm gonna have to agree with Jon77 on that. Especially with a bubble trap and all the macros, you shouldn't have to worry about bubbles making it through the refuge. As for flow, do you want to focus more on the skimmer or the fuge? IMO, more flow suits the fuge better (if your using chaeto) and lower flow will work the skimmer more (more of the same water being bubbled up). Maybe there's a good balance flow between them.

on the subject of pod transfer, might seem like a silly question, but do most of the pods that overflow into the return section make i through the pump in one piece? and do they significantly add to the amount of pod life in the display tank? or are they primarily in the sump? i ask b/c i'm also building my own sump, and adding more pods was one of the reasons i'm incorporating a refugium section in the sump.
thanks,
Z.

Just a side note but have you cheked melevs site? Lots of usefull info on sumps.

That is a really useful site. I was looking for a sump/refugium and some how ended up there and that is how I began this project.

I did build it this past weekend. I did not put baffles next the refugium. I was going to use Arcrylic but then ended up with glass because at our Home Depo they were unable to cut the Arcrylic due to new corp policies a couple months ago. So they guy said.

I also ended up using a different tank. But I think it will all work in the end.

Today I am picking up 2 return pumps. A mag5 and a rio +2500. I plan on running 2 seperate instead of 1 bigger one. I would have went with a mag3 but no pet store in the area including Foster and Smith had them and I did not want to wait for mail order.

Thank you

I will try to find my camera...I just moved and pretty much put my priority in my Tank...LOL I can't find anything but my Fish, crabs, and anenomies.....

I think they do fine. I find them in my skimmer all the time and they have to go through that pump.
