First time filling the tank

Hi, again!

So I'll be starting my 55 this weekend.

Do I have to get all the water from an RO source?

Or can I fill the tank with my hose? (I'm running off a well with a softener)

I use RO water. Both well water and tapwater can be a problem. You might not have any problems, though.

I have used the vending machines (Glacier) in my area that advertise RO/DI with UV sterilization. The readout says when it was last serviced and it always seems to be recent, but who really knows?

No expert here, but I'd go with that option versus a well IMO. I don't know what the softener would bring to the table as far as good or bad...

I have a RO/DI now just waiting to get hooked up.

Recommend using RO water.
The well water may have other contaminants in it. The softener removes calcium and magnesium and replaces them with sodium.

Yes, which is why many choose to get their own Ro/Di unit.

I have one attached to my sink, it still only pushes out about 12 gals an hour.

12 gals an hour is great. and yes it does take time to fill the tank up this way but is good in the long run IMO
