(Tank is Aqueon predrilled 48.5 x 18.x x 25.375)
I built the frame (thanks rocketengineer) for my stand using 2x4 and am getting ready to skin it. Although in retrospect I might not do it again, when I started I thought it was better to use pocket screws and I built the frame with pocket screws together with wood glue to join the 2x4s for the frame.
Do the pocket hole plugs add anything structurally or are they just for show in which case I don't need them as the frame will be covered? (I assume just aesthetic and they are not needed).
As I am a beginner with woodworking, I am not sure of the size plywood to buy for the floor and top. The dimensions of the the tank are 49" x 18.5". Can I use skimp on the .5 inches on each side and use one 4x8 sheet? If yes, do I need to use a .5" x .5" dowel strip to fill the space?
Lastly (for now) does closing the back substantially effect the noise?
Thanks
