So my girlfriend paid for the cleaner shrimp in my 10g nano. She likes the shrimp but she chose this shrimp because she liked the fact that it actually cleans the fish. Could you guys recommend a fish for my 10g nano that will actually allow the shrimp to clean it? Preferably a fish that isn't yellow, I have a yellow clown goby that wont go anywhere near my cleaner. Thanks!

My cleaner shrimp cleans my orange spotted goby every now and then when the goby lets him. I had them both in a 12 gallon for about one year but never saw it until I moved them to a 75 gallon.

I had one a while ago and it would clean my yellow tang consistantly. He trys to clean my clown goby but he just runs away. I have heard that they clean blennies alot. Anyone had this happen?

I also have a cleaner shrimp that cleans my orange spot goby in their 20 gallon daily. In a ten gallon, you might want to look for a goby/blenny as a fish that can be cleaned.

I have about 16 fish, and two cleaners. The only cleaning that ever took place was for 1 of the fish, and only for a two week period.

(The fish in question would die of stress in a 10 gallon tank.)

You have to be really careful about adding more livestock to a small tank. Don't add more if you're just trying to witness a cleaner shrimp in action. Chances are it won't happen, and you'll possibly have a less stable tank with too great of a bio-load.

And many fish will not do well in a 10 gallon tank. Make sure to check, and double-check the minimum tank requirements for any future purchases.

What you can do is rinse your hands, and hand feed him some krill, mysis, etc. Not only can you hand feed them, but once they are comfortable with your presence, they will try to clean you.

I know about fish being kept in a 10g tank/bioload/how to take care of a cleaner shrimp. He actually cant resist jumping on my hand when its in the tank haha. Pretty fun. I was just seeing if anyone has had any luck with small fish (gobies, blennis etc.) being cleaned by a shrimp. That being said, I do like the orange spot goby... but I'm not crazy about it. I want to like the fish as well as (hopefully) have it get cleaned haha.

I can't speak for any other cleaner shrimp but my two will clean any fish that stands still long enough for them to catch. The clowns, the dottyback, the blennie, the gobie, the angel, my arm if its in the tank long enough.

My cleaner shrimp cleans my cherub angel and my yellow watchman goby( i know u dont want a yellow fish but just saying :) ) It has never once cleaned my ocellaris clowns though not sure why. The cherub gets cleaned usually once or twice a day and the watchman opens his mouth as wide as he can and lets the shrimp clean all in there its really funny actually .When i stick my hand in to clean the tank he cleans my hand as well!

yeahhhh I was thinking about the watchman haha. I do like them alot, but again they are yellow... I have actually had a cleaner shrimp clean the inside of a blue spotted jawfish's mouth.
