Fish battle

Just added 2 pj cardinals to the tank. Current inhabitants are 4 clowns 1 chromes and a flame angel.

Just added the cardinals and the flame angel is ****ed at them. Chasing em around.

Thoughts?

Flames can be aggressive as far as dwarfs go. I'd banish it to the sump for a day or two and rearrange the rock and hope any territory it established is forgotten.

I'd be much more concerned with 4 clowns in the tank. Once they mature it's going to be ww3 in your tank.

Clowns were all added at same time. They have paired off already and all school together so I don't worry about them so much.

Wish I had a sump setup to put him in.

Do you have a small spare tank that you could put him in??? I did that before and rearranged the rock work and it did help some till my sail fin got to big and was eatting everyones food up so he is now in his own tank .... He was the aggressive fish compared to my yellow tang he is so shy.. And if you don't have a spare tank put him in a bucket while you rearrange the rock work and then you can put him back in.

Sexually mature clowns will not school and adding at the same time does not work with clowns. One can keep large numbers of juveniles together and they will be the best of friends but once they are sexually mature it goes downhill quick. A large tank with multiple nems and it may work but not in a 55. Given time, they will kill each other.

Without a sump, I'd rearrange the rock and hope for the best.

That's completely the reverse of what I have read in a bunch of threads on here regarding the clowns.

Anything is possible but not likely, best of luck. Humor me and post this in nem/clown forum and see what they say about 4 clowns in a 55.

I'd still try to rearrange the rock for the angel.

U should always add your least aggresive fish first. Chromis are aggresive. This makes it easier but turning the lights out a few days helps whene adding new stock . Fish have small hearts and being picked on to much can be deadly.
Also be sure you have enough hiding spots as they like to pick a spot then defend it.

Also with clown fish if they are young enough are a sexual or undicided so 2 small clowns together with create a male and female .

Going to have to agree with "olemiss reb" about the clowns. While it may be working now, once a true pair forms and they start to spawn, all bets are off -- the odds of the spawning pair killing off the other 2 clowns is very high.

I guess the pair of false better start beefing up and working out. The black ones are starting to outgrow them....

Well clowns don't school. Ever. Unless your tank is HUGE, you will end up with only one pair of clowns.

Actually the odds are a certainty unless your tank is huge which it is not.

I think you don't really want to hear advice. So you feel that the best ones should "win" and the other pair should "lose"

It was a joke.

It's great to have such an amazing resource like reef central where not only does everyone know EVERYTHING about fish tanks they also know when people do and do not want advice and instead of helping with the original post they just harp about something completely different.

Thanks to everyone Who did offer advice.

I love clownfish. I have a GB Maroon Clown (About 2 inches) and he is getting racked by my Flame Angel. I have a small reef tank, but I feel your pain on agression whoe's. At the end of the day, recommendations and advice are taken with a grain of salt. We are all keeping fish from the ocean in pin head sized volumes of water. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't but it's your tank to have fun with=-)

Everyone says don't mix angels too....can be done with great success.

My female clown got super aggressive towards my ruby head fairy wrasse when I put it in and all I did was move one of the coral colonies that was by her to the other side near where the wrasse was hanging out and she quit messing with it right a way.

Will a hermit kill another hermit if given the chance ? A Harlequin Shrimp kill a star fish ?
A Anemone kill almost anything it touches . Clowns are cute so we feel we need protect them. who's life is worth more a pod or a clown fish ? Life is life , we sacrifice life every day for no more than to feed another life we feel is of greater value . Rather it be a star fish to the Harlequin or pods to our mandarins . I don't think the clown are being sacrificed .
Sorry if I offended .
