i bought 3 more green chromis all the other fish are doing there normal thing but the one chromi is breathing heavy not eating there are no other signs like ich or nothing this happened before when i bought 3 chromi couple months ago .i have a six line wrasse and a marron clown fish when the tank first started and they are ok.

cheap fish that dies fairly easy. nothing to worry about imo right now. if other fish start acting strange then time to check things out more.

I have found chromis are pretty easily stressed as well. Probably has a lot to do with them being potential food but could also be due to other chromis bullying. No matter how many I start with, I always see to end up with one. My biggest one is now ~4yrs old.

I am working up my population and hope to get a school of 15-20 and see if they last longer.

have you ever seen them come into the store? there either in a bag basically the size of a dixi cup or there in a large bag with 50 other chromis. The don't have good odds out the gate IMO.

Its funny you should mention that. The last batch I bought hadn't been unpacked yet from the wholesaler and they were in a bag the size of a ziplock sandwich bag.

I bought 8 a few weeks ago, Im down to 5. Ill see one hanging out towards the bottom of the tank one day and the next have one less chromis. Glad its not just me.

At least they are small enough that when you kill one its not a big deal fishing it out of the tank. I saw a dead on once, grabbed the net, and by the time I got back the crabs had hidden it. Im sure within a couple hours it was picked clean. On another note, kind of sucks we are killing this many fish. Better than electrocuting ourselves though, right Eric? ;-)

Talk about breathing heavy...

Yup lol, I leave most dead fish in the tank anymore, to much of a pain getting them out and there gone in the morning anyways...lol

i got 4, one died while the bag was floating when i brought it home, the others hovered in the corners around the koralias and eventually died and got stuck to the outside of the pumps... i have 1 large one left... he seems fine...

i think im going with anthias instead of chromis next... i heard they arent as fickle...

All the chromis's that I have bought have not died, but they remind me of a fish that has hit the side of the aquarium one too many times.
