Hi All,
Okay, so I am new to this hobby. I have bought a freshwater 35 gallon tank just 3 weeks ago which gets almost 30 gallon water in it after gravels and I leave one inch from top too.
The fish shop sold me 4 common gold fish and 2 freshwater minnows sharks. All the fish are not big right now.
So after 2nd week I started noticing a bit smaller shark bullying the bigger one. And due to constant bullying the bigger shark kept on sitting at the bottom right corner of the tank as if He/She wants to run out of tank.
Someone suggested that if I keep bully fish out of tank in some bucket for 2 hours and then put him back in tank the He will stop bullying. I did take out the bully fish and put it in a bucket with water from fish tank only.
But to my surprise now a gold fish has started bullying this poor shark. The most friendly gold fish in my tank suddenly seems as if he/she too doesn't want this poor shark in tank.
Ok, so I put the bully shark back in tank again. For a few hours everything seemed normal. But after a few hours everything is back as it was. The gold fish seems very friendly again and the bully shark fish again bullying that poor bigger shark.
What the hell? Why no one likes that shark. And in fact this shark is the biggest in size in tank though the difference is only a few millimeter but still it's the largest among all and she is very very tense.
She is again to the bottom right corner of my tank. I have read about Nitrogen Cycle and Nitrosomonas and Nitrobactor bacteria and it seems my tank is still cycling. I have ordered API test kit on ebay and will recieve it in 5 days. Till then I am changing 15-20% water everyday and fish seems to be happy except one which is being bullied.
In first week I fed them 3-4 times and that too too much. But when I read about ammonia poisoning then I started feeding them once a day. Is this why they are bullying just one fish? Is this because of food? Though I am sure that I give each of them almost 10-15 pallets everyday.
What do you experienced guys recommend?
