I caught several emerald crabs, shrimp and a couple of fish with this trap. But I did not catch the pistol shrimp I was after.

I think the hook is small enough the key will be will they be the first to reach the food (and hook). You need to be able to catch what you want and not snag your favorite critter.
If you could get the hook to the critter in question, then I think the hook and line would get it done.
The hooks I have are Daiichi #1110 size 24. They are made of carbon steel and are made for dry flies. It was the smallest hook available at the fishing store.

I'm not a fan of hooks... except in ice fishing.

I can't take out the rock... it is about 25 lbs and huge

I like the coke bottle I'll have to try that and maybe get lucky

I could also use a cattle prod Kind of like I did when I worked for the fish and wildlife service.

I think one zap w/ the cattle prod should help you catch ALL the fish.
