fish disease or just a flesh wound from a fight or rocks

Open wound often leads to bacterial infection.

When I see open wound, I make very sure that the uv is running properly and that I have antibiotics on hand ready as standby.

ok thx , you have a uv plumbed into you tank on standby? i honestly don't have any room for a uv space under the tank is tight lol. what kind of antibiotics? can you suggest a uv a compact one ? thx for the help

The uv is not standby. It is the most needed in two situations. One is like this, open wound. The other is in the period of new pathogenic bacteria before antibodies. A uv must have a rather slow flow, about 5-10 gph per watt.

The antibiotic is standby.

Also, uv cannot be used when an antibiotic is used.

How big is the tank? Damsels may go at each other and others if they feel crowded. You usually don't have trouble in a 100 gallon unless you have more than one of the same kind.

i have a manifold set up if i buy a uv can i run the uv off the manifold and let the outflow go into the return section of my sump and back to my aquarium?

Best is allow clearest water to go thru uv.

I use a separate small pump to drive thru uv from the sump and back to the sump. I like the independence for servicing and moving between qt and dt and different t.

A small pump doesn't cost much.

I now have 7 uvs.

For a few years I had only one. I then had three.

I then bought an old system from a medical doctor that consists of four uvs
