Fish Disease. What is it?

I bought a clownfish from a local fish store and it had a couple marks on it cheek. After a day and a half it developed into a white almost mold looking fuzz on its skin. It died the next day. Now my bangia cardinal has it. I have been feeding mysis with garlic. Any ideas what the fish has and if I am treating properly?

It sounds like brooklynella, which is a very deadly disease. I'm afraid your cardinal will die soon too as it's usually too late by the time the white fuzz shows up. What other fish do you have in the tank? You will need to get all of them out for formalin dip.

I would recommend quarantining all your new fish for 8 weeks in the future to prevent spreading disease into the DT.

The Cardinal fish is the only fish I have in the tank. Thank you for the information. Do you happen to know how long until I can safely add fish after this fish is gone or the fish gets better?

After brooklynella, the DT should stay fishless at least 6 weeks.
