Hello,
I have lost 2 anthias fish in the last couple of weeks. First one began with a small fuzzy-like white thing that slowly started to slough off and go away over the course of a few days. so i thought it was going to be fine. but then a few days later i noticed it had started to "look patchy". not with growths and not ich looking, just like scales missing or patchy looking pale spots all along it's body. so i got a little worried. came home that very same day and it was breathing heavy and barely moving. by the time i got a QT set up that night and put in some Melafix with the fish it was on it's side and didnt survive the night.
i was shocked how fast it went from hmm that looks strange to dead.
so seeing that i looked at the other fish and there was another anthias starting to look patchy. so i put him in the same QT and he didnt make it either. i dont know if i did melafix wrong or if it was not the right medication choice.
there are 2 more anthias in my tank. i also have a mitratus and a pair of spawning clowns. the clowns look fine at the moment and have never had any issues in 2 1/2 years. tank also has gigantea anemone, snails and SPS frags.
the 2 remaining anthias appear fine, but they are the "new guys" and for first time i didnt QT them before adding (lesson learned i suppose).
but now the mitratus is flashing. i noticed him scratching against rocks today.
what would you do?
