Fish finder 220 closet build

After a couple months of prep and research it's finally time to start my build. First I must say thank you to all the help here. This is my first aquarium of any kind, I went big right out of the gate. I've been told that if I go small I'll want to upgrade. My tank is a 220 that I got from a friend getting out. It's 24x24x84, predrilled.

Now for the build.... me and my girlfriend just bought a house and both decided that a tank would be good. Her only stipulation is that it can't have a big bulky stand around it. she said, "something pretty like in the wall" :hmm4:
Hahaha so I waited for her to go to work and started building. The house has an open plan with the dining and kitchen together so this wall looked good IMG_2645.jpg had a little issue with not being able to center the tank in the wall but I'll work around that IMG_2646.jpg

She didn't want a big stand.... this wall just so happens to have a closet on the other side and the carpet is already pulled up to be replaced IMG_2636.jpg the only problem is the closet won't fit a 7' tank and she is only at work for 5 hours, oh well gotta do it. She said in wall right? Hahaha the closet is now framed out 2' longer. IMG_2648.jpg

And she's home.... we'll continue tomorrow!!!

Following. Congrats on the new house and tank. My wife would freaks if she sees me cut the drywall.

Following along...Congrats on your new home and tank! My current build is a in wall as well but only a 180. Luckily this isn't my first tank build and at this point my wife just shakes her head when I start cutting drywall and usually says "it better look better than it did before you cut it up" LOL

Back at it this morning.... I built the stand, all done with 2x6 and 2x8. Just need to cut the plywood top for it IMG_2649.jpg
After that I decided it was time to cut the big hole... IMG_2662.jpg lol it's a lot bigger in person. :eek2: I had the move a couple outlets and change them to GFCI. Then spent the rest of the day hanging drywall IMG_2663.jpg View attachment 369824
Now the bedroom is back to normal. With the exception of a bigger closet and a giant hole in the wall. I'm getting excited to set the tank and plumb it all up. But I have to finish in the drywall work and paint first maybe another week or two

I usually host them in a 3rd party website and link over the image. Love photobucket but now they want to charge ya an arm and a leg. Flickr is the next big one I believe.

Here's some pics of where I'm at now. Quite a few LPS just getting some sticks. A couple tangs through quarantine. More in QT right now. I'll get some coral pics tomorrow
