Fish for minimalist aquascape?

I am getting ready to stock my tank in the next month and would like some suggestions for fish that like and thrive in open. I will have some rock and large hard corals in a 120 gallon hex, bare-bottom. I was thinking about some of the cardinals, tangs, and/or rabbit fish. I want a heavy bioload but would prefer smaller fish to attain it. Looking for suggestions.

I think you're on the right track with the cardinals. Just make sure to get healthy individuals from a reputable dealer.

I'm partial to red spot cardinalfish (Apogon parvulus). I know that DD has had quite a few groups recently, and from what I've read, they have been quite healthy.

Keep in mind that many cardinals are know to be fragile shippers, so I would be careful of the livestock that you obtain.

The foot print is roughly 36x32x32" and 30" tall. Lots of flow too. About 120-100x total display turnover depending on the controller setting and individual cycle of the pumps, 4 mp 40s.

If you are in the mood to spend some money (and risk a few coral polyps) you could add some fish like the rarer butterflies i.e tinkeri declevis bugessi flavocoronatus burgessi variant. Also the semilarvatus. Those along with the copperband tend to be good around corals.
