Fish ID

It was facing me when I took the pic. It was swimming front to back of the tank. Not the greatest pic but u can see a bit of detail in the reflection of the glass. Cool how it has the red strip down the middle of it's body.
 
Indeed it is. Might I also mention that they are extremely delicate and get enormous. Like over a foot long enormous. Minimum tank size in most cases are suggested at 200 gallons.

They also are not reef safe I don't think.
 
I don't own it and wasn't thinking of buying it. I just saw it at the LFS and was wondering what it was. Never saw anything like it. I've seen pictures of bat fish but none like this. I think bat fish are ugly.

It will loose that orange outline I think.
 
I would never buy one though. If you look up file fish they don't look like this kinda the same situation.
 
They lose the orange.

They lose the black.

They lose the super-tall fins.

They become big (very), round, brown fish, faintly banded with a slightly lighter brown.

It's a shame - the juvies are awesome.
