Hey everyone, i just upgraded from a 55 gallon to a 125 (72x18x21). Its a prettty significant upgrade for me but there are so many beautiful fish that i like but couldnt keep so i had to make the move. I have a mixed reef and five fish currently. One target dragonette, pair of cinnamon clowns, barred dart fish, lavender tang. I really want another tang or two if possible and so i figured i turn to rc since alot of you guys are more experienced with larger tanks and fish. Just hoping to get some feedback on what your favorite show fish are for a tank my size and just any general recommendations. Im not into predators but open to just about anything else. Thanks in advance! Greg

What about a diamond goby, mine is so active and fun to watch, though he does like to rearrange the sand, i have one spot where you can see the glass on the bottom of the tank and a nice 5 inch hill next to it.

My second favorite fish in my tank is a McCoskers Flasher Wrasse, a gorgeous fish who is out and about a lot.

I also like my starry blenny, they are a pretty cool fish.

Just remember those first two fish need a lid as they are jumpers.

I like schools of anthias personally. Also adding different reef safe wrasses and tangs is my favorite. Firefish.

I like the diamond goby idea im just apprehensive because my barred dartfish digs out the sand like that whichi was worried they would battle for territory in the 55 but there should be plenty of room in the new tank for two. I also love the anthia idea my gf has always wanted a few any suggestions on which kind and do they actually school in home aquariums? Also any suggestions on a tang or two would be wonderful!! I really like the white cheek tank and the dussumieri tang just not sure how compatible they are with one another and the size tank i have

I would fill that tank up with a few wrasses, check out halichores wrasses. they are considered unreef safe but that is because they eat snails but they are out and about and come in amazing colors. Also alot of fairy and flasher wrasses will add movement and color. Have you looked into maybe a purple tang? great color. I would suggest looking at liveaquaria's site and check the tank size before making a final decision. hope this helps and good luck with the new tank, I also want to upgrade my 55 to a 125...once i can get my girlfriend into the hobby which is much harder than it sounds.

Ok thanks i will check out the wrasses. I have always browsed live aquaria but never ordered from them im just to loyal to my lfs i guess lol. And i like the purple tang they are beautiful but i feel like they are pretty common amongst home aquarist so i kinda wanted a tang you dont see so often. And i totally get the gf dilemma it took a while to get my gf interested but mow that she is its so cool man she cant wait to go to the lfs woth me and browse the corals man! Good luck with her!

Hey Greg, Ive had a tomini tang, lavender tang, and a block tang in my 125g for a year now and they get along great. The Lavender sometimes acts like a bully, but the only fish that pays any attention is my helfrichi firefish which lives behind the rock.

Couple other suggestions, depending on coral selection, are pygmy angels I am drawn to them. Also wrasse are alot of fun I have three, and last but not least my all time basslets. But that can get pricey too.

The purple tang can also be pretty mean from what I hear.

I have a 125 and my fish stock is a diamond goby which has been mentioned that he does swift the sand/crush coral around a lot but still cool to watch, then I have 3 tangs which are a yellow tang a blue hippo and a brown tang. Some people say not to get 3 tangs but mine are bestfriends never fight and sleep well next to each other, also have a cleaner wrasse which I love this fish and the way it cleans my other fish. Then 2 percula clowns which they host my frogspawn and last is my cleaner shrimp, he never bothers nobody always hiding or eating food off my hand.:)

My main concern with another tang is agression. Im very partial to my lavender tang and do not want to add a fish that will create a stressful environment. Based on the lavenders species, what would you guys recommend for the least likelyhood of a battle. I realize that with any tang theres a possibility for agression but id really like to take all precautions. Im in no rush to throw a bunch of fish in the tank ive been there and made that mistake early on as a reefer. I appreciate all the suggestions so far guys thanks!!

I would sugest a kole tang or a tomini tang. They both are more on the passive side and are small tangs that won't be much of a "threat" to your lavender.

I like the kole tang alot and the spotted bristletooth. I was at a frag swap today and picked up a beautiful diamond watchman goby. Hes about four inches long and has been digging himself a home under my rockwork for about six hours. Im very happy with him and the barred dartfish has his home about two feet over on the same rock structure so there was no issue!!!

I am planning a similar setup. so far the anthia grouping with a mix of fairy wrasses is where I plan to start

wrasses from the cirrhilabrus group, rabbit fish. Siganus Vulpinus is my favourite. Will only pose a threat to invertebrates if under-fed.
