fish in qt

could I reasonably put a yellowfin flasher, Tanankas, and a small barnacle blenny in a 10 gal. for TTM then a 20 for the rest of QT?

How did you lose them? My last QT had a lubbocks and a firefish go through ttm in 10 gal then on to the 20 and they went through very easily.

What happened? Ammonia? aggression?

I suspect ammonia killed them...and it only took less than 48 hrs. So be careful. Would hate to see someone go through what I went through. You might be better off buying a used 20 gallon locally instead.

Sorry you lost them.

I have some bigger tanks I can use, Maybe I will. It is just so easy to do TTM in a ten gal.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Either have ammonia detoxifier on hand to use at the first sight of ammonia or wait until the fish are eating well and use a powerhead and no filter and only feed one time per tank transfer (although that won't help with aggression.) Or have a filter rated for 3 or more times your QT volume

A quick follow up for anyone interested:

The three all came through TTM without issues. I used 2 ten gallon tanks each with a heater, power head and PVC hiding spots. No filtration. I dosed prime on day two of each transfer. I fed very frequently, but small amounts and I removed uneaten food and waste with a baster frequently.

The fish seemed happy and stress free in the 10 gallon tanks. They would meet me at the glass whenever I came near. The only exception was the yellowfin would be stressed for an hour or two after each transfer, but that seems pretty typical for them.

Cant wait until they hit DT!

Thanks RC for all the guidance and advice!

Should be fine. Add ammonia detoxifier on day two of each cycle. Oops, answered prematurely and should have read your follow on.
