Ok, planning fish for my 40 breeder SPS dominant reef tank. Here is my list. let me know what you think.

Currently have:

2 Clowns (2" each)

Want:

McCoskers Flasher wrasses
1 - Male
2 -Female
1- yashia gobie
1- shrimp for yashia gobie

I am open to all suggestions. I would like 2 female wrasses, but am open to only having one, and the Shrimp/gobie pair is open to change, I would just like 1 or 2 small colorful fish in addition to the clowns and wrasse

as long as your staying with smaller passive fish you may also want to consider

an algea eating blenny - smaller but colorful one like the bi-color

another pair of gobies - maybe a pair of firefish

a pipefish would be an interesting addition plus they will go after sps parasites

I guess I should ask what type of clowns you have? It they are more aggresive you may be stuck with just them.

in addition to the list I already have, or in place of some of the fish?

could be in addition - depends on the clowns

they are just Ocellaris clowns

good you should be fine

I not only look for fish personalities for compatability but where they zone.

Gobies tend to be bottom dwellers, the firefish will venture out in mid tank, and are also known to jump, so on a 40 breeder you may have to deal with that.

Wrasses tend to like open water but want access to rockwork to hide in. they can be top dwellers or mid tank.

as far as I know the pipe fish will hang around the sps

mandarins ar mostly botom and rock dwellers

the clowns (when paired and happy) will pick a spot and usually hang within a few inches of it except to eat.
