Ok, so I finally got my tank up and running, its cycled with a small clean up crew. I've now been researching what fish to get and have tentatively decided on this:

Flame Angel
6 line Wrasse
Royal Gramma
Pair of Clowns
Foxface
Purple Psuedochromis

Now from what I've read they should all get along together and fit in my tank. Just wanted to check with people more experienced then me. Will I have any problems down the road with this group? Also except for the clowns it sounds like I should put all of the fish in last as they are all territorial. In what order should I put the fish in? I will be buying my clowns tomorrow, very exciting for me.

I would forget the sixline and go with something else. They are nasty. I've had a sixline in my tank for two years and have spent two weeks trying to catch it without any luck. I've heard a LOT of other people say the same thing about them. There are pleanty of other reef safe wrasses that are attractive without being so much of a bully.

I couldnt disagree more I've had 2 sixlines in my tanks and they havent touched any other fish. They were just very active. I've heard people say they get a mean one every now and then, but i wouldnt say they are nasty. Get one small and it should be fine.

I would just take off the foxface. They get too big and are super active for a 72g tank.

I might be wrong here, but the purple psuedo and the royal gramma may have some problems. I vaguely rememeber hearing the purple psuedo is somewhat mean to other similar shaped fish....

I was worried about the Foxface. I thought he was a good replacement since I cant get a tang. I've also read about Wrasse and the Gramma and was worried about that too. As for the six line I've read some are mean but I've also read a lot of good reports too so I think I will chance it. Ok so now I am down to just five including losing my big fish! Can anyone give me some ideas of fish that would fit in with these guys in a 72 gallon FOWLR tank. Also what order should I put them in? Thanks.

instead of the purple psuedo, go with a fridmani psuedo or is that what you meant?

always be careful with psuedo's, they can be very mean. i have yet to get a nice one.

Why can't you get a tang? 70 Gallons is fine for some species. Just dont go get a sohal or sailfin and expect for them not to outgrow your tank.

while 70 would be fine for a yellow tang for a while its still probably better to bump it up to higher than 75 once it gets large. I usually say 75 for them (and still do ) but i suppose that if it was smallish when you get it he should be fine for a long while in 70-75. But like i say...some large YT's look out of place in even a 75 and could use a bigger tank...

You are always correct sir dude guy...at least everytime I am in a thread that you post in. The advice you pass on here is priceless and I thank you. I couldn't agree with you more and I have had many bicker at me for having a scopas in a 55, but she is very small and I will get a bigger tank when the time comes. My coral beauty, scopas, and maroon clown are like the 3 stooges...they are always by eachother and each have different personalities.

I've heard that yellow tangs have a large bio-load and that all tangs need a 6 foot long tank to swim in. I'm just trying to do whats right for both my tank and my fish. From what I have read about the foxface (though I did not find as much info) I've never read about them needing that much room. Of course there is no foxface.

I will be getting a pair of ocellaris clowns.

ugluk, that is a very good point and i wish more people would go by that. At least 6 ft would be very good for them and i'm sure the death rate of them would drop significantly if more people were to keep them in those longer tanks rather than shorter than 6.

And yes, tangs are quite messy and contribute a lot to the bioload.

In my opinion, the foxface is very similar to the tangs. I know a guy who's got a 125 and a full grown foxface in it. At times it looks like that tank is still a bit small just by the way it frantically swims back and forth. It is a somewhat skittish fish to begin with though, so that might be part of the reason he does that lol. But once fish like tangs and foxfaces start getting close to adult size, its best to move them up to a larger tank IMO.

The O. Clowns would be a good first fish in the tank
