Fish nipping

Hi before I get a clam I was wondering how well a clam will do witha fish taking an occasional nip at its mantle? I am asking because I have a flame angel and have heard that they can be nippers. I want to know if I should get rid of the flame before I get my clam. Thanks in advance for any replys.

clams wont do well. all it takes is one nip and the clam can stay closed for hours.

they will be extremely unhappy if its getting nipped at. I had a purple tang that would constantly nip at the 2 clams i tried out. i had to remove the clams since i didn't want to cause permanent damage to them, however, now that i finally got rid of my purple tang, its time to try a nice clam again
