just curious what everyones take is on this. i have two clowns and all they do is stay on one side toward the bottom and go back and forth from the back to the front of the tank??

They are searching for a anemone or other host. Just give them some time to explore their new home.

Yep, mine do the same. Its in there 'blood' so to say. They have a corner they always go to when the lights go out. From time to time they try to host my frogspawn and torch's, which never works so they head back to the corner.

There is always hope. :D

The hosting urge is built in and they always will try to find a sweet spot, where they feel protected.

I believe it is fairly common. I have the same situation. They utilize about a one foot section on the right side of the tank and simply fan out beds in the sand in the front and rear corners. The BTA has even (at one time) postioned himself in the one corner and the clowns wanted nothing to do with him.
Not sure whether they are lazy and do not want to deal with the flow, as well as its where I always feed the tank. As long as they are healthy do not worry, they will venture out eventually: for a few seconds that is

It is somewhat like when the move me to a new ward at the asylum. At first I wander about aimlessly but then I steal a guard's laptop, log on to RC and feel at home.

LOL......WK.....Was it all the chemicals over the years that did you in.....

My clown moves around the tank when its feeding time, then he just goes back to his corner & stays there. Its funny to watch him, he just stays vertical with his tail facing up & his head facing down. He just moves up & down like that.

HAHAHAHA..nice..well as long as its common. its just so weird cuz at the lfs u see them all swimming and happy then in my tank its like lineman said they just stay on the bottom to the side and sit there..everyone thinks they are sick or are going to die or something but they are healthy and happy
