Fish stocking list

Ok so my tank is packed full of corals mostly zoas and polyes and I think it's time to add my first fish. Here is what I'm planning to stock in this order. 1 ea. Red and purple fire fish added together, 1 Ocellaris maybe 2 and last a 6 line. That would be least aggressive to most aggressive. I will be upgrading to a 40B soon so lots of room and I skim very aggressive. I'm hoping the 6 line is not too aggressive for this stocking. What do you think?

our six line was very aggressive to new fish. i might would consider a yellow coris over a six line...jmo :)

Thanks for the info Carol appreciate it. Was it aggressive towards the established fish when you added it? I figured adding it last would give the others time to get there territory and hiding places established. I love the look of the 6 lines very colorful and they are veracious towards all the little pests in the tank and can keep them in check. I read that the yellows are not reef safe and 50 Gal min. The biggest I plan on going at this point is a 40 and it is a reef.

when we put him in, he was little...so, no, he wasnt aggressive then. but after he grew, he killed most of what we put in, until we got rid of him. our yellow is in the softie tank, but he doesnt seem to be eating anything in there (knock on wood), and it is a 150.

honestly, I dont know anyone who has long term success with firefish... never more than a couple months... maybe if they are in a tank alone. I have a pair of six lines, and they have never bothered anything other than my pod/flatworm population

That’s a little scary if for some reason I had to or wanted to add another fish down the road after it’s all stocked. Maybe I’ll just get the 6 line and be done being that that is my fav anyway.

Adam I kept two fire fish one purple one red for almost a year in my 90. I sold both when I broke it down. Both were fat and happy. As for my interest in the 6 line other than it's great color is I'm looking at it for flat worm and pod control. Right now they are out of control in my tank. I have no fish at all right now. I need one to keep them in check.

I'm having luck with a red firefish in my 30 which transitioned to my 90. had issues though when I had more than one.

Hey Dave! Check out the Melanurus Wrasse. They are suppossed to be better than the 6 line at getting rid of pests. They are also suppossed to be less aggressive. ABC has a large one in one of their tanks & it is sweet looking. Make sure you get a male if you get one as they are more colorful. I'm currently on the wait list at ABC for a male. It says 50 Gal. min tank, but they told me I'd be ok with my 30 breeder. Good Luck!!!

Make sure you get a small one Mike. They get pretty large. Nate had one in his 150, Dave I'm sure you remember that guy. Beautiful fish and great pest eaters.
