Fish Stocking suggestions

looking for stocking help on 150 gallon tank.

Currently have

2 ocellaris clowns

1 yellow tang

3 snails

Eventually planning on being a reef tank

What would you guy's out there suggest?

Was possibly contemplating the following:

6 line wrasse

cardinal fish

some sort of goby

blue/green chromis ( i hear varying reports of how well they survive?)

that's kinda a big list of rather generic fish.

With a 150 you have some decent options. I'd go with something not run-of-the-mill. Definitely not chromis, just not a fan, plain, boring.

Have you looked at wrasses? Definitely a fan of gobies. Firefish? Anthias?

Anthias would be a great addition a group of 4 females and 1 male.

For gobies i like either the yellowhead sleeper or a shrimp goby pair.

was thinking of a 6 line wrasse as the next fish unless you guy's would suggest something different

don't anthias require a refugium for copepods?

Hold off on the six line wrasse.

Again, you have a 150!

spend some time on liveaquaria.com looking at the fish. Especially diver's den.

Anthias don't really rely on copepods as their main food source, so you'd be fine, and I'd actually say most of them are pretty neat. Wrasses will eat your copepods up though. Six-lines can get temperamental so you might want to look at a different wrasse or maybe couple wrasses, which are also very cool fish. If you're looking for groups, cardinalfish are also a good choice along with the anthias (except for Banggai, which only seem to do well in pairs usually).

kole tang or tomini tang, royal gramma, firefish, wrasses(mystery, lineatus, flashers, etc), tailspot blenny, and a few anthias. i would skip the dwarf angels because they might nip/eat things in a reef tank.

DEFINITELY hold off on the sixline wrasse or any wrasse also from the Pseudocheinilus genus of wrasses. They're beautiful and easy to keep, as well as give the added benefit of pest invertebrate predation...but, they're generally SUPER aggressive and territorial. They're typically accepting of EXISTING tank mates, I.e. Those that are already in the tank when they're introduced. But, anything added afterward will likely be victim to extreme bullying and attacks, even much larger fish may lose a fight to a sixline wrasse. And it won't be limited to one rock or cave, the wrasse will claim the entire tank as its territory. If you're going to add a wrasse from that genus, best to have it be the cherry on top. Last thing that goes in the tank.

i'm still struggling here...

what would make sense to add as my next fish to go into QT?

am i asking for a problem if I add a kole tang with an existing yellow tang in a 150?

anthias are ok but i'm not really impressed by them....

i'm holding off on any wrasse for now as suggested.

was thinking possibly a fox face but was told they're not always reef safe and they get stressed very easily?

my yellow tang and kole tang get along fine but there's aggression between yellow tang and onespot foxface probably because they're both yellow. my foxface also nipped at some corals so i sold it. if you're worried about adding new fish to the yellow tang tank, you can use an acclimation box and the "mirror trick".

You have to worry about disease with Chromis but I really like the two I have. I don't think that's a bad choice with a thorough qt procedure. But I do agree with the rest of what everyone says - a 150g opens up a nice list of possibilities. Maybe one more small tang, wrasses, Anthias etc

Chromis typically kill each other off. Anthias are cool but do typically require multiple feedings during a day.

I still haven't pulled the trigger on anything...

thoughts on Kaudern's Cardinalfish, Captive-Bred (Pterapogon kauderni)

if i were 2 get 2 of them are they pretty easy fish to keep, will they eat pellet food?

Same for Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrisquamis) thoughts on these guys? live aquaria shows them as peaceful?
Anyone have them? are they pretty easy to keep? will they get along with most other reef fish and other wrasse?

Don't do the Cardinals. Maybe do a pair of Clowns and/or a Longnose/Flame Hawkfish (mines haven't touched any inverts). IMO, I would only do 1 Tang, if I am not mistaken your tank is 64" which is about 5.4ft. Most Wrasses are not to picky when it comes to eating. Do a Blenny or Goby.
