some may have read my Vodka warning pertaining to the same issue...

This time im not sure its the V but could be an indirect result of the V as some have suggested.. Anyway

No white strings, no clouded water, Ph is fine @ 8.22 all params are normal.. all is normal corals look great.

The fish is eating the solids of CV then suddenly dies on the spot and i saw the whole thing AGAIN!!!!

Im currently on week 2 of the V as i started over and let some time go by after the 1st sudden death of my midas blenny. Since then my clown has had trouble shortly after dosing the V, ie. gets disoriented for say an hour then recovers, this happend at the low doses but as i increased the dose amounts i havent seen or noticed this behavior. Im currently on week 2 and dosing 0.7 ml per day diluted to 0.1ml per dose every 2 hours 7 doses, have done this since Saturday March 7

What i did today
Dosed my V in dilution of 0.1 at 9:00am, again at 11:00 and 1:00 then
at 3:30-4:00 ish i feed Coral Vital and Spong Power mixed with Calcium.

The fish is eating the solids of CV then suddenly dies on the spot and i saw the whole thing AGAIN!!!!

Anyone ever experience this?

Any suggestions?

Don't you think it might be the coral vital and not the vodka? Didn't you just say that both fish ate the coral vital before dying? Maybe the coral vital is contaminated? Seems more likely than the vodka dosing.

I just read your other thread as well. There's definitely something going on that has nothing to do with the vodka. If you are going for ultra low nutrients then you really should stay away from dosing stuff like coral vital and sponge power. That's just extra nutrients especially in a 34 gallon tank. There may be an issue with the vodka reacting with some component of those two additives but that's hard to say.

I would say that you are adding way too much to your tank. Keep it simple, test and supplement your Ca, Alk, and Mg, and you should be successful.

No i didnt say both fish ate the CV, but both fish suddenly dropped dead, recently..

im adding Cv and Sponge as food for the tank, it seems to be working ok, but im thinking that there may be some chemical issue with them as well, even though i only add 1 drop per day and do weekly water changes of 10%+

BUT i know a few people dosing far more than this plus vodka with alote of fish in smaller tanks with no problems.. But im leaning toward cutting back on them at least to see if anything changes..

For now my corals look great and my Anemome is fine.. i would think that they are more sensitve than a clown fish but who knows.

Make sure you have an airstone or something to increase the oxygen level in your tank when you are vodka dosing. I don't believe it is the vodka either. I have been vodka dosing for 8 months and I have not encountered any problems. Remember it is better to under dose then to over dose the vodka.

I too think your dosing to much vodka. Do you really have that bad of a po4 and no3 problem on a 34g?? When I dosed on my 110g (total volume) I only brought the dosage up to .8ml and notice results. After 1.5months I than had a green cyano out break.

Are you running a skimmer?

What is the reasoning for dosing vodka on such a small system?
