pjstiles

I have a 5 g saltwater nano tank that i want to set up, what fish would be good for cycling it with. I don't want to use any damsel, chromis, or anemone fish of any kind though. Yes I know what i'm doing so please don't troll and just give any success stories for nano tank cycling you've heard or experienced.

Only fish i would put in a 5 gal tank would be a clown goby. But you should never cycle a tank with live animals, either use cured live rock, add fish food to the tank till you get ammonia, add a piece of raw shrimp, or add pure ammonia to start the cycle.

I would do the fish less cycling method....wheter it's with a frozen shrimp, ghost feeding, or pure ammonia. Using sacrificial fish to cycle a tank is just not necessary.

You obviously DON'T know what your doing if you want to cycle a tank with a live fish. It's cruel, typically ends up killing the fish, and is entirely unneeded. Using a fish to cycle is the old way of doing things, and there are far better ways to cycle a tank rather then unnecessary killing of a live animal.

Cycle your tank with pure ammonia, ghost feedings, or frozen raw shrimp. Have a read up in the stickies on how to properly setup an aquarium.
