Fish trap

Here's what I have to order today.

TanksDad 6"
Smoothdog 6" and 8"
Mkart 6" and 8"
Clevername2000 ??? Did you want one?
Club loaner program 6",8" and 10" from amazon.
oshanickreef you still need a piece of acrylic cut for your lid? Bring it over when we do this and we can cut it and glue it. I have 3/8" and 1/2 to cut it from.

4 ea 6" = $26.92
3 ea 8" = $31.89
Shipping quoted = $21.32

6" total is - $6.73+$3.04 shipping = $9.77 + $2.30 magnet + $3.33 float = $15.40 in all

8" total is - $10.63 + $3.04 shipping = $13.67 + $2.30 magnet + $3.33 float = $19.30 in all

Only real question is if the magnet will be strong enough for the bigger ones. If not we double stack and the costs increases accordingly.

I am headed back from the bourbon train in Kentucky today and can order for this week arrival.

Been following this post. FYI might want to check Dollar General for globes. They have 4" and 5" glass with a small lip.

I just found about 10' of 3/4", closed cell, backer rod if we need it.

Thanks, but I think glass would be a little too heavy for the magnet, plus we'd have to worry more about breakage.

Cool, we can give it a try. I've got 3 of the floating straps to try too.

Bowls are in!

Smoothdog, did you order the floats to try yet? If not I'll order today and we are ready to make these things

Kirk and I got a working 6” trap but the magnets were a bit small. I had to deal with my father being admitted to the hospital so I haven’t touched it since. I did receive larger magnets and will try them out tomorrow. We are certain it will work though with out much difficulty in building them.

Very interested in this. Great work guys! If you make extra I would love to buy one of these.

Kirk and I did complete one to test but the magnets were too weak. I have larger magnets but honestly haven't tried them. I believe they will work and we will only have to design a larger container to seal the magnets in. Kirk can do that I believe. I'll try to test what I have tonight.

I'm thinking we can have the same size magnet on the bowl regardless of glass thickness and create different sized external magnets to handle that change for user to user.
