Fish were being POISONED!

A few weeks ago I built a new stand for my 29G biocube. I waited for the stand to STOP smelling like stain and moved the tank over to it.. All was well..

A few days later I added an air pump to the tank and stored it INSIDE the cabinit. The next day I noticed all did not look well in the tank, fish were breathing rapidly - anem didnt look so hot so I decided to move them all to a Q tank I have setup.. I realized that the INSIDE of the tank smelled really strongly of stain and believe it was poisoning them. I moved them Friday night and they look much better now. I also did a massive water change on the tank, added a poly pad, added TONS of carbon, and moved the air pump about 10 feet away from the tank and its drawing air from outside the house now. (Its in between a window and a screen so its technically outside drawing outside air).

My question is - I moved the fish on Friday is moving them monday night (3 full days) later safe? Or do they need more time to chillax? I realize this is probably a personal opinion thing.

Give thenstan a week in the sun, just to be safe

Not doable where I live unfortunately.

That stain smell isn't just poisoning your fish, it's poisoning you and the inside of your home as well. If you can't get it in the sun for a week at least get it out of your living area.

Well that's a little extreme don't you think.

No, it isn't and there's plenty of documentation (and common sense) on those poisonous fumes to back it up including it being written directly on the stain can, but you remind me of a great saying: "The internet: where my opinion is as loud as your facts."
