Fishies we have known

If phosphates can kill fish then that would be the best explained cause of my inability in keeping angels.

As far as corals go, yes I keep them and have keep them since a few months after I started my 15. Like I said before, The only corals that do not live in my tank is Xenia and Anthelia. I have 2 bubble anenomes, 1 rock anenome, 3 different leather species, several mushrooms species, a acanthastrea lord colony, Favia, Favites, star polyps, 3 different calastreas, tubastrea and yellow turbinaria.

All the corals are fine and expand well.

Ive done alot and tried little experiments along the way. Yes, some were more costly than others however if noone experimented with anything in this hobby, we would still be using undergravel filter. Go ahead and flame away again about the "costly" being fishes lives versus experimenting and I think you might find my trial and errors to pale in comparrison to how the hobbyists used to take care of their fish.

Like I said, Ive researched the heck out of the last 7mos and I still have a ways to go obviously, however I do find it quite amusing to see many people toting a 2 year stamp for the hobby yet act like theyve been doing it for the past ten years right?

I'm sorry to say this, but you should be ashamed at loosing all of those beautiful marine fish. You should be asking yourself if you are up to keeping marines because with that track record you need to find out what your doing wrong, and put it right.

Wow, you're up there with John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, and Charles Starkweather.

Not to mention Elizabeth Taylor

These the ones that have met with a untimely end...

2 Tomatoe Clowns
2 Pink Skunk Clowns
2 Saddle Clowns
2 Percula Clowns
1 Rainfordi Goby
1 Yellow Tang
1 Target Mandarin
1 Scooter Dragonet
1 Niger Trigger
1 Hippo Tang
1 Cleaner Goby
1 Saddleback Butterfly
1 Copperband Butterfly
2 Green Chromis
1 Purple Firefish
1 Hispidus Angler
1 Fuzzy Dwarf Lion
1 Fu Manchu Lion
2 Tangorao Gobies
3 Signal Gobies
1 Red Clown Goby
1 Black Clown Goby
1 Fiji Rabbitfish
1 True Scribbled Rabbitfish
2 Potters Angels
2 Coral Beauty Angels
3 Lamarcks Angels
1 Watanabei Angel
4 Kelloggi Seahorses
5 Banggai Cardinals
1 Bluestripe Pipe Fish
2 Sailfin Mollies
3 Bumble Gobies
2 Flounders(sposed to be brackish only, woops!)

It seems slightly appalling... i think. Btw if you were keeping track, thats 57. I gave up 3 fish to PC Pets, 1 Powder Brown, 1 Green Bird Wrasse and 1 Pineapple Trigger. My current (i hope!!!) stockin list is:
1 Vlamingii Tang
1 Copperband Butterfly
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Green Clown Goby
2 Sailfin Mollies
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Orangespot Prawn Goby
1 Scooter Dragonet
3 Engineer Gobies
2 Tomatoe Clowns
1 Niger Trigger

That brings me to a grand total of 74 fish I am keeping/have kept. Im looking at this as a learning experience since I do still have 2 of my original fish that I started with, the Orange Spot and the Lawnmower.

Thats my story, whats yours?

:eek2: wow

umm I reckon that I should not be so upset about the fox coral I killed!
:)

I've lost:

1 GS Maroon Clown. It had something wrong with it neurologically. It just flipped out one day and then was swimming upside down while spinning in circles. All my other fish are fat and looking great :)

Thats stated in my "current tanks".

The hippo and copperband were lost in quarantine. The niger, tang, fiji, rainford, saddles, scooter, 1 coral beauty, target and lamarcks were lost in a tank crash. The firefish, 1 potters, true scribbled, watanbe, and saddleback butterfly were all killed by the powder brown. The Fu Man Chu choked on a shrimp. The lion and angler are unknown causes. The seahorses did great for months then suddenly disapeared 1 by 1. The pipefish was lost in a rockslide. The chromis were done in by chromis. The other potters and other coral I have no idea. I have no success with angels. The tangoroas were lost shortly after the move from quarantine to main display. The clown gobies caught ick and never let the cleaners near them(and were to quick for me to catch). The cleaner goby jumped the night after I rescued it from INSIDE my protein skimmer. The mollies investigate the intake of my then HOB skimmer pump. I think my bigger fishes ate my bumblebees. The true percs were from a store that I have never had fish live for more than a few days. Same with the tomatos and a sailfin tang I forgot to mention. The banggais caught that weird "banggai only" disease and all bucked the kicket within a week. And the signals had a cave collapse, the survivor? My orangespot who shared his hole with them. The skunks decided to hang ten on my area rug. None of these are in preciding order of death, just the compiled stories of many a brave(or to slow for the collection cup) fish who has traversed the waters of my reef. I take no solice in any of these fishes death as a aide to experience or what have you. I should still have have all those fish lost in the tank crash, however it was a low oxygen issue due to over abundant macro and not enough dissolved O2 derived from a lack of a protein skimmer and hardly any surface movement.

Funniest thing I have ever read on RC... if not the most disturbing... but the lion choking on shrimp is priceless!

Well your death tolls might be too high to recieve any warm reception here, but yey, I love your honesty!!! and I am sure there are worse hobbiests. I have lost a a clown and a goby to hanging ten on the rug, another clown which never ate in QT, another goby (killed by a damsel I think) and a few frags. I sounds like you dont have a good LFS nearby. Anycase I have lost far more guppies (over 1000 maybe and many cichlids... I used to breed them  )

Also, think of all the ghosts that haunt your place

Wow. (No offense) but I thought that I wasn't doing so hot after losing 4 fish--one to old age, one to my anemone, one to my sixline and the said sixline jumping out of my tank. I felt horrible for a while after all of these, because (maybe except old age) they were all directly or indirectly my fault.

wow everyones so judgemental...of course that many fish isnt a good thing...but the man has some good reasons..I dont think flaming the guy was the purpose of the thread..people talk too much sometimes...this is an awesome web site for learning but I think I ve learned a lot about human nature from reading some of the comments people have

In 18 months i've lost
2 flame angels - They were a pair, but got some serious white spot and died within about 3 days of it first appearing :(
Tried everything, treatments, good food, garlic, catching them etc etc....nothing worked

I think its even better to look at my last post's timestamp and then the reply. Its almost a complete month apart. You people cant really be so bored as to go searching through a months worth of postings just to say to me "you should be ashamed of myself".

hey, for a newbie to find it and bring it back, give him some credit!
I am glad he/she did because your thread is of the best I have ever seen! (exept all the negitive nancys) I know it must not have been funny for you at the time but I cant keep a straight face once you started describing the fu manchu. atleast the newbies learned something, do not attempt to resuscitate a lionfish!

Awww cmon, you know you want to go mouth to gill with a lionfish... :D

Ive actually just dropped off 4 fishes from my original list. The vlamingii is going to 1 of two 8' aquariums and the engineers have already found new homes.

I did find one of the tangaroa gobies though, it has been sharing the burrow with the orangespot and shrimp.

yes old tom has a lot to say...came to rc with a bang hahahah,..and u shouldnt "be sorry to say" anything. if you have the balls to say it, then say it, dont apologize and if you thing you should apologize for saying something thats a hint you should keep it to yourself....Im only 21 and ive learned that, but im a really blunt person, tell a lot of people what no one else would tell them...but i love bein me:-)

man ...just saw another I had to say something about...Mr. amphiron...”WOW (but no offense)”, what is that dude? You want to bash on the guy but not sound too mean? I m glad his losses made you feel better "I though I wasn’t doing so hot"..Let’s just go through the list since im in the mood...whose next..Lets seeee...ns reefr ..I admire your use of retarded smilies that say absolutely nothing, I bet your a pro at aim, ..arthworks if you really cared that much about "giving them the best environment" you wouldn’t have a reef tank. Were all greedy keeping these fish outside their environment for our OWN enjoyment. Don’t bash because you think your own greediness is better than someone else’s. Mike de leon.....you have to chime in on someone else’s moronic comment, can’t think of you own? vessxpress1...enough said, original poster put your face in your butt for trying to sound intelligent..Biggy smalls your concern for tops is greatly appreciated by everyone...but since everyone’s fish isn’t a jumper maybe you should keep with learning accounting so you can keep up with how much everyone’s hawk fish cost them and their earnings per share ratio....anyways im tired and going to bed..I hope all of you bashers that I see time and time again (even of the beginners’ forum, ***?) get the point. Sick of you ruining this forum. Garvin 90 you owe me a frag for this.. not really, but if you really, really want to haha:-)

reading back on this it was a little harsh..but I think these people need to see how it feels to be messed with, like how they messed with this poor guy who just wanted to start a thread

first time reading this and wow!!!! I don't know where you bought all these fish but you might want to find a better dealer... that is very uncommon to lose that many fish in 18 months....wow

Did anbody notice that his guy is the Secretary of the
Omaha Marine Society? I think this is all a joke. If not then Neb. should implement a 1 fish a month rule.
