Fishing in Florida

Anyone care to fill me in on some good bass or crappie (speckled perch down here) fishing that you don't need a boat for? I am in Melbourne, FL. Thanks.

the C44 canal that runs from lake O to the st. lucie locks holds some decent bass. lake o has some big'uns too but i don't know how it's been since the drought dropped the levels for a coupla years.

here's the latest on the specks;

LAKE OKEECHOBEE

Speck fishing will be lighting up as temperatures stay in the mid-50s at night around the central part of the state. Areas like Lake Kenansville and Lake Kissimmee will be good places to start fishing for specks until the bite becomes more consistent in the Kissimmee River below S-68. Jigs in the 1/16-ounce and 1/32-ounce will be good ways to catch them, as will live minnows.

You can also try BlueCypress lake off Hwy. 60 or the stickmarsh in Fellesmere. I hear there is good fishing in the stickmarsh. We usually fish Lake O or Kissimmee but via boat.
