Fishless macro tank

I was given some Mermaid's Cup last week and I used it as an excuse to build a 20 tall macro tank. It currently is fishless and will probably stay that way for awhile. I picked up Kent Iron & Manganese but I'm worried about actual feed. I used water from a WC on my 92 but it has a low bio load and not much as far as nutrition for macro. I do have pure ammonia that I use to cycle tanks. Can I feed with that? Put some flake in there as if I had a fish or hope the water from my 92 is good enough?

Thanks,
Michael

PS. I'm not done aquascaping yet.

Is the tank cycled? Only a small amount of sand isn't much for a biofilter if you want to add nutrients from ammonia either through direct dosing or food.

Yea that was my worry. But to cycle you need to introduce ammonia. I might soft cycle it. No plans for fish until months from now. A friend last night suggested that I put some skimmate in there as a source of phosphates.

Thanks,
