Right now, my "fish room" is mostly storage with a few quarantine tanks. However, this spring, I really want to get going on making it a proper fish room. One thing that concerns me is all the heaters I would need. I'm going to start out with 12 ten gallons and 3 - 4 20 gallon tanks. Having 4 heaters on now, vs 16 will probably be a big jump. ANd so I started thinking maybe heating the fish room is a better idea. Several freshwater articles suggest it.
I've heard oil filled space heaters are fairly efficient. So I picked one up on clearance. Its 1500 watts. The room itself is about 10' x 12'. Eventually I want to squeeze 30 some odd tanks in there.
So what's the best way to determine which is the cheaper alternative? Or is it just a matter of running both for a month each and seeing how much it raises the electric bill?
