fission nano skimmers

Does anyone have any experience with these?

I am looking to drop in a skimmer in my little 10 gal nano at work, and saw this in the latest Dr. catalog.

Thanks!

I have experience....I experienced the horrible skimming abilities and threw it in the garbage. I did get good use from the tiny pump it comes with. Got that in my 2.5g nano, but wasn't worth the purchase of a fission skimmer just to get the pump.

They will decrease in efficiency very badly with decrease in water level. So using it with a sump is an almost must. And if that ain't bad enough, they have these ring/cotton filter inserts that you use to decrease microbubbles....I say decrease, cause they're always there no matter what you do, and then you have to buy more little filter ring replacments often.

Save yourself the money and do an extra water change.

lol, alright that works for me.

Thanks Adam!

Does anybody know of a mid-range($) skimmer that works for a small nano?

Sapphireaquatics is what I hear on the nano forum. Supposedly they work really awesome from some of the pictures I've seen.

Cool, I will take a look at them then.

I do bi-weekly h20 changes, and have some Cheato in there, so it is not something that HAS to be done.

But, I would like to drop one in there, if the cost and space is there.

I had an Aqua C remora nano that I just sold, It worked awesome on my 15g tank. Was a little pricey though!

I second that the nano fission skimmer is worthless at best!
