Hello. My '7240.27 Driver' got wet and stopped working. Can I send it in for repair, or is it smarter to just buy a new driver?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

If it got wet beyond just the sockets which I could replace, it is not repairable. About all I can repair is changing the controller or transformer sockets. Beyond that, if the actual board gets wet it tends to more or less start a chain reaction as a short overloads one component after another and any repair is like a dog chasing its tail with so many bad components it isn't worth doing.

Controller makes a loud noise

Hello,

One of my tunze 7240.27 is making a loud screeming noice when I plug it to the power. Anybody have a suggestion how to fix that?

Thank you!

If a driver beeps, it usually is working, the pump is either jammed or broken and causing the alarm. The first thing to do is take apart the pump and clean the drive unit (prop assembly).

Most likely the pump is dead but the driver is fine. The pump is a the cheaper part anyway so if it is past warranty that is the better situation to have. Send it in, I will test it and quote the repair but it will likely be around $75.

The warranty is two years. It could be the driver but it is unusual for a driver to alarm and be broken, usually a broken driver gets hot and does nothing. Send it in, I will take a look.

Just wanted to say thanks to Roger for helping out, I was able to get my 7240.27 driver working again do to this thread. I tell you the support in Canada on tunze is not very good.

Drivers rarely can be repaired, usually a transistor fails and this sets off a chain reaction of dead diodes, etc. The best is to either find a working used one (not made since 2009) or upgrade to the current equivalent pump.
