Flame Angel A Jumper?

I got a flame angel a couple weeks ago. This morning I found it had jumped into the overflow. I have an AIO tank and in that overflow I have filter floss in a media basket. Good thing it landed in the area where the water comes in from the tank...any further back and I think it would have dried out by morning and not survived. My question, is this common for flame angels or a freak accident? It is the boss of the tank so shouldn't be freaked out by other fish...it doesn't mess with anything but all my fish move out of it's way in my tank when it swims by.

On another note, it regularly swims on its side and hovers under a return nozzle...similar to how a clown hosts an area. It still spends a lot of the day cruising the tank and picking at the rocks. Is this normal?

Thanks,

I had a Flame Angel that jumped after 4 years in my tank. I didn't get the screen cover on right and it found the opening. When I found it the next morning it was too late. Almost all fish are potential jumpers.

I've never known any angels to be jumpers so you may want to investigate what would have caused it to jump.

That's what I thought as well. Can't think of what it would be since my tank is pretty peaceful. Maybe it got startled by something when it was sleeping. Hoping it was an isolated incident.

Any and all fish could jump. Cover your tanks!

+1 ^^^

I've had fish jumpers and even fish not known to be jumpers. I had a Powder Blue Tang jump from my tank once while I was watching my tank. Any fish can become a jumper. If they get spooked, startled or chased. I had a Coral Beauty Jump once because I ran by the tank real fast to get the door for the UPS guy who was making a coral delivery. :spin2:

I cover my tank now. :wavehand:

Yes, I am looking into getting a screen kit today. I think it's the light turning on or off. It comes on at the lowest setting but I noticed last night when it turned off that the flame spooked and took off behind a rock.

after loosing 2 fish one being a 150 clownfish, i now cover all my tanks. just not worth it imo

bought the sreen from brs
