I hope you can please help me with this? I have had a 3.5 in Flame angel for over 7 months now. About 7 weeks ago I had a bad case of ick that ended up killing my Bicolor blenny before I could get it under control. I finally have it under control with know signs of ick for 6 weeks. The problem that I am having is the flame angel hasn't eaten in about 6 weeks. I treat the ick with melafix (which now I am not sure was the best thing). I feed the tank spectrum, flake, live brine, frozen brine, mysis and bloodworms. The flame angel eat great before and eat everything that I gave him. He hasn't loss any weight that I can tell, but he is eating the normal food. He also has come very shy and hides in the rocks alot. There is nothing in the tank picking on him and everything else is eating well. About 1 week ago I noticed that his tail (the purple part) was tearing and since he had no appetite I thought it maybe fin rot so I again dosed melafix which helped the fin rot within 2 days but he still isn't eating. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

I put in 6in strips of Nori soaked in Seachem garlic 2 a week. Everyone else loves it but the Flame Angel wouldn't touch it. What confuse me the most is that he hasn't lost any weight.

I just lost a Flame Angel recently in QT, but I suspect it was internal (maybe parasitic).

Anyways, I had thought they were pickers on 'critters' on live rock and sand beds. Never knew they had a taste for veggies (although all the foods I had said great for omnivores). However I feed mine some Formula One and Two and he prefered the green Formula Two (I think prepared with garlic). I also would feed mysis, Specturm, and SeaLife pellets. Mine always looked well except the day it passed away. Looked really skinny and shared similar symptoms as yours. (see my thread in disease forum here)

I think the meds might play a factor too. He might need time to pull it together on his own (great water quality sans meds) and more smaller feedings.

Tough call. Ideally I would like to think that one should treat one illness at a time, but not eating makes that a big factor. And he must be eating something. Mine sometimes wouldnt touch the food once I added it, but would have it all consumed within 30 minutes or so.

Sorry to hear about your fish - I can't comment on the diease but whenever I'm trying to tempt with foods, I always try frozen cyclopeeze or live brine.

Thanks for everyones advice. I bought some live brine the other week , which was his favorite but he would swim up to it and then back away. I will try the cycolopeeze though. Thanks
