Flame Angel not eating

I picked up a Flame Angel Friday and it seems to not be eating. Ive tried a little variety of food. Ive Rod's original, Rod's Herbs, and frozen Mysis shrimp... what do you guys think? Is there something else I should try or should I just give it somemore time? THanks!

Don't be offended when I urge you to, in the future, ask the fish store people to feed the fish that you're interested in before you purchase it...and only purchase a fish that enthusiastically eats in front of you. Don't be tempted to buy it even if it takes food...but then spits it out on the theory that it'll come around.....That having been said, make sure that there isn't any other fish in the tank with it that's harassing it so it won't take food. But, if it isn't, sometimes having been moved from one place to another itself will stress a fish causing it to resist eating for a while. So, though there's no guarantee that it will begin to feed, it more probably will once it settles in. I find that mysis shrimp is a good food to tempt a reluctant feeder with...but, if it also try Cyclopeeze (which is available frozen and also freeze-dried) is also excellent for that purpose. You can also try brine shrimp which some may take when it won't take other foods. Keep us posted here about your Flame Angelfish, kdog.

New Life Spectrum pellets are worth a shot, too. Angels seem to like them. I've gotten a couple of angels to eat the NLS Thera A pellets before they would take frozen foods.

Well it's my fault. I had been waiting for it to come in for a while and didn't ask them to feed him. It was also cutting it close to making I there before closing. Well I'm going to try to get some of the foods mentioned above. Should I try putting him in his own tank for now too? Nothng seems to be bothering him but I probly should have pt him by himself to begin with :(

If no one is bothering the Flame, leave him with the other fish and feed the tank as usual. If it is in good health it will come around and start eating, watching the others eat. If you move the Flame to another tank you are increasing the stress level in the fish and will take longer to start eating. I always try frozen brine shrimp and if hungry they will go for it.
I also ask the LFS to feed the fish before buying it, make sure it swallows the food not spit it back out.
Best of Luck with your Flame angel hope it start to eat. I have a small Flame and it pigs out at feedings, just be patient.

Thanks. I bought some frozen brine today and am going to try it tomorrow.

No I think it was poor judgement on my part... got it right after it came into the LFS. I tried all kinds of foods... Im sad it died:( I'm going to try another one in a month or so

Next time ask the LFS to hold it for you for 2 weeks and makes sure it settles down and is eating good before you buy the flame. I went throught several before I got a healthy one also. I find they are very delicate compare to my other fish.
