Flame Angel Pairing

There was a tank of the month sometime last year that I noticed had a mated pair of Flame Angels that constantly swim together.

I currently have one flame angel and would love to have a pair.
Does anyone know if I could just add another one and have the pair up? or will they fight unless I can identify the gender?

Any info?

You need to buy a very small juvinile which hasn't sexually developed into either male or female. It is still hit or miss as to whether there would be aggression but that is your best chance of pairing.

Pretty risky. Good chance they will just end up fighting. If you are going to try it, make sure you have a large tank with plenty of live rock.

I just did what you are talking about, I already had a male, I was able to find a female at a LFS, I added the female at night when the lights were off of a couple hours, and I also blackened the tank with a sheet for over a day, there was some fighting and chaceing around, but that only lasted for a day or so, after that they swim together, with very little chaceing. Like what was said before it is hit and miss, You need to get on that is on the small size, they all start off as females, good luck
