Flame Angel Problem

I got a question about if this is common. I just purchased a flame angel and put him in my tank. I have had a peppermint shrimp for a few months. The flame angel swims by the peppermint shrimp and he attacks the flame angel. After the first night he was in the tank he a little gash on him. The angel just keeps going back around the peppermint though and won't leave him alone. When the peppermint attacks the flame has a hard time getting away from him. My fire shrimp comes to rescue for the angel and the peppermint runs back under the rock. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

The angel just wants to get cleaned. Are you sure the pep is not trying to clean the angel? Does the fire shrimp clean the angel? Seems awkward if the shrimp is really attacking it. What other fish have you had in the tank?

That's an odd situation that I've never seen.

I'd love to see video of your delima though. It seems like an episode right out of Superman.

i had the same problem with my banded shrimp. it kept going at my flame angel. in fact it used to try and catch whatever fish was swimming by. it used to kill my small damsels and eat them. i didnt think anything would happen to the flame, but it ended up dying and the shrimp ate him. i got rid of the shrimp.

Coral banded shrimp are known to be aggressive, but I have never heard the same for peppermint shrimp.

I think the angel just needs a cleaner shrimp and then it would leave the pep alone. It may just be aggrevating the pep as I think they are more hit or miss on whether they clean.
