Flame Angel Question?

can y'all explain the difference... PI and vanuatu- didn't know about that and would like to know, in case I ever decided to get one. Thanks-

PI is the phillipine islands where historically many many of our fish came from. cyanide collection is prevelant there and death usually occurs due to kindney/liver damage about 6-8 weeks after collection. long enough to make it to your tank and to leave you wondering how you killed it. this lead to a reputation that flames are one of the less hardy angels. cyanide also increases/intensifies the normal coloration, so you think your getting a real nice one too.

my flame (vanuatu) eats flake food on the rare occasions I feed flake.

I think im gonna get one from liveaquaria.com I have a choice of Christmas Islands, Marshall Islands, Tahiti, or Cook Islands. Which would be best?

I'm not familiar with all the flames from different locations but going by just the map, I'd say you'd be safest with marshall, tahiti, or cook. Xmas islands look like they'd be flown out of the phillipines, so mixing the two (whether by accident or design) is a real possibilty. the others (I believe) have their own international airports.

just took a flame back to the LFS store today for nipping on my sps. I still have the coral beauty he has not did any nipping yet.

Both are a hit and miss.........I had a flame in my tank for over a year with no problems and then it starting nipping my corals

I now have a CB that has been in the tank for over two years with no problems..........
