curious question do flame angels eat pods or something as well.... im trying to figure this out nothing i read about them really talks about it.....

i notice my flame angel all day seems to be pecking at the rock and coral bases not the polyps or anything and there is no signs of anything getting eaten....what i read is he's a omnivore. i also think he's eating most of the nori i put out for my tang as well...

is this common?

Yes quite common. I have a Flame and Potters in my 210 and an Eibli in my 65. All three pick at the rocks throughout the day and get their share of offered foods as well as some nori from the clip.

my flame is always picking at the live rock. he eats mysis and flakes like a pig. mine doesnt eat any nori though.

I have had my Flame Angel for about 1 year. He grazes all day on live rock and I see feed on pods that are floating in the water column. I feed him Spectrum pellets and variety of frozen foods.

They graze constantly - I believe they are mostly after algae and sponges, tunicates and sometimes a little coral. I don't think they are actively hunting for pods, but they surely consume a few. :D
