Anyone have experience or thoughts on keeping a Flame Angel fish in a 28 gallon Nano Cube with HQI lighting? I have two clowns, few snails a shrimp in there now.

I had a Flame Angel in my 110 gallon tank and loved him, he was good with the corals. Got rid of him and the 110 now I just have the NC. Thanks!!

well if you plan on keeping any corals, no, because in a smaller system such as your, they are more prone to eating them. Also, a 28 is a little small. Look at other angels, such as the pygmy angel.

I wouldnt do it, the flame angel could also become a bit more aggresive than usual in a smaller tank like that.

I'll agree. Look at one of the members of the argi complex; The pygmies are usually a safe bet in a reef and one would work ok in that size tank. A flame needs more room, IMO.

Agree with above if for no other reason than they are grazers and need a fair amount of real estate.

hmm i have to agree, i have had an flame angel for almost 3yrs in a standard 29gallon mixed reef and i am not upgrading to a 110gallon sps reef. The NC is to small of a tank for lateral and verticle swimming room. Now do I think you could try it... Sure but make sure to get one that is very very small and then when it gets too big return it to the lfs and get another small one.
