Flame Hawk

Thinking about adding a flame hawk to our aquarium. I had one years ago but gave it away when I moved. Here's a current fish list:

Occ Clown
Purple Firefish
McCosker's Wrasse
Pink Spotted Goby
Neon Goby
Royal Gramma

Currently in a 65 gallon.

There are no shrimp and if I get a Hawk I do not intend to add any. Just concerned about some of the smaller fish. The neon goby we have tries to sit on all of the other fish and I'm not sure how this would go with a hawk.

Any input would be great. Thanks!

We have the same size tank and had a Flame Hawk for a while, very nice looking fish under the right light! I may not be much help but the Flame Hawk we had seemed to keep to itself or keep near the 2 Clown fish in the tank and none of the other fish bothered it, and these 3 always liked to keep near the top of the tank and not on the bottom near or under the live rock and coral which seemed odd to me but I have only been in the reef game for about a year now. Our tank has a Diamond Goby and a Green Spotted Goby and they were never any trouble for the Flame Hawk. We dont have a Wrasse but have thought about adding one. The Flame Hawk died at some point a few months ago and I dont know what exactly the cause was but was over a year old. We are getting another one though and I dont expect any issues. Again Im probably not the best guy for an answer lol but wanted share my experience. They are a nice addition and love the glowing red color.

I love my flame hawk. He and my huge old royal gramma used to flex at each other but nothing serious ever happened. He tolerates my new small gramma now.

I do not have any other "perching" fish, though your concern about the neon goby seems reasonable to me.

I have a pair of flame hawks and love them. They have tons of personality and a nice splash of color. Mine have never touched my shrimp, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have not seen any aggression towards other fish.

In the past when I had mine I also had a Coral banded shrimp. The hawk never bothered it, in fact the shrimp went after the hawk a few times.

I really liked the hawk when I had since they do have such a personality.

Thanks for the input!

I have one in my 40 gallon and I love it. Lots of personality. How do you pair them up?

I bought them as a pair. Sometimes they seem like a pair, never leaving each others side. Other times they are pretty far apart and ignore each other. They have never fought or shown aggression towards each other or others.
