i don't know, my shrimp are pretty annoying, and unfortuneately, all 3 of them are still alive, my flame hawk hasn't touched a single one of my chromis, 2 cleaners, 1 blood, and 20+ clean up crew.. he just waits for me to feed him

I don't have personal experience with either, but after seeing both for the first time in person, I prefer the longnose. Before, I would have preferred the Flame.

To me, the Longnose just contrasts most other fish so well, but in a really good way.

I unfortunately added a Flame Hawkfish to my 150g reef years ago. He proceeded to kill four Green Chromis, one Canary Blenny, one watchman Goby and two Firefish over four days before I was able to remove him. He wasn't in the aquarium for five minutes before the first Firefish was dead. Most expensive fish I've ever owned!!! I replaced him with a longnose and all was well for several years before I broke down the setup.

how do you think a flame hawk did all that?

I absolutely love my Flame Hawk, he's so cute when he scuttles around the rock tops searching for prey.

Flame Hawk FTW, can't get a comical experience out of a longnose.

+I love the googly eyes.

Can I recommend a geometric pygmy hawkfish? Shouldn't mess with shrimp or fish since it's so small. I was asking the same question as you a while ago and I just bought the geometric hawk a week and a half ago. I decided I didn't want to risk my shrimp or small gobies.

Longnose is winning! I like my longnose alot. I have had him over 2 yrs now and is a model citizen. The flame hawks i find to be very personable

I looked at the link for the geometric pygmy hawkfish and then went to petsolutions.com and said that they eat corals:( If it wasn't for that then I might have chose it.

I've never heard that before - seriously doubt it.

Anyway, let's hope not - I just added one to my tank and left for a week the following day!

Persistent attacks over several days. I've never seen such an aggressive Flame Hawk before. All of the fish were much smaller than him and he simply beat them up. I watched him do it. Go ahead and give me the eye rolling icon if you must. It won't change the reality that was my crazy Hawkfish.

They're both really gorgeous in their own unique way. Both are known to prey on ornamental shrimps. For me, I prefer to have shrimps - cleaner, blood - over some fish.
