Flameback Dwarf Angel

I just rescued one from a tank from a friend of mine who got divorced, it had been living in a 90gal tank that hasn't been cleaned in about 3 months. It was her ex-husbands tank and didn't know how to take care of it, all she did was add water and feed him every other day, he is now in my 120gal FO and is doing great, everyday I see him I am still amazed he lived in the tank so long considering I could hardly see him through the gunk on the tank walls. So I know this specimen is the toughest fish I have ever seen.

They tend to be hardy, but they can also be very aggressive towards any other fish, even fish much larger than themselves.

I have a white-tailed pygmy, which is similar to the other smaller of the pygmy angels ... she's hardy and one of my favorite fish, never even looked at any of my corals (including xenia.) She is quite ... hmm, pushy would be a good word. She's very busy all over the tank, and always in everybody's business, and scared of nothing. She does pick on new additions, even ones much larger than her ... but I've never regretted adding her to the family :)

The one I saved is about 3.5" and he is in the tank with a Saddleback Butterfly, True Falcula, Scott's Fairy wrasse, Red Margin Wrasse, Exquisite Wrasse, Neon Dottyback, Purple Tang, and a bunch of mushrooms that are overgrowing my reef tank. He has only been in the tank for a week and so far he hasn't touched the mushrooms

Can one of you guys that have one of these FB's tell me how you got him eating.

I just bought one. I knew they were herbivours, but I figured they would also eat meaty types of foods.

I have tried.
Formula one frozen.
Formula two flakes
Nori
Cyclopeeze pellets

He only picks at these things, he never eats his fill. He does roam the tank sucking the thin micro algea off the walls of the QT tank. But you don't have to be an icthiologist to know that what he's eating won't sustain him.

Please recommend how to get an adult pygmy flameback angel to start eating like an adult. Thanks.

I'd try frozen mysis ... the PE brand (Piscine Energetics.) I've had the most luck getting new fish to eat that, the cubed kind more than the flat pack.

You could always add a drop of garlic to the food and let it soak, but I'd try just the mysis first :)
