Some Dendro tentacles for the azoox crowd.

Incredible. Its like looking through my mesoscope. I could never get such definition up close with a camera.

Beautiful Gary, simply beautiful. That picture alone should make reefers think twice before setting up a stick forest tank.

Thanks to all. Glad everyone enjoyed the image. Alex and Trichome, Canon 7D with three extension tubes and a Sigma 180 macro lens on a tripod with remote release and mirror lockup. I used a remote flash for this one to deliver the colors, light just the coral, and let the background go black.

Dang Gary you just keep breaking new ground. Makes those acro pictures look boring now huh? From a Azoox keepers front the polyps are interesting. No wonder they are so hard to feed. It looks like not much to grab food with. Saying nothing about the size of their mouth.

Thanks, Don. I generally find Acro photos to be boring. They're not much fun to photograph. Agree on how instructive up-close images of azoox corals can be. All you have to do is look at a 1-in. section of a dendron or sclero to see how minute the food has to be to fit in those mouths and how difficult it must be for those little tentacles to capture any edible food. This image of a short section of one of my scleros is the one that really opened my eyes as to the size of food these corals need so they can grow.
