Do you just press the hood against the glass when shooting to get rid of reflections? I haven't tried using my flash on my tank I don't think

I bounce the flash usually off the ceiling and playing with the angle to get the proper effect without reflection glare sure helps with taking fish pics and also get great color . Nice shots !!!!!!!

Shouldn't that read Close the aperture?
Anyway Very nice pictures.
GuOD Just tilt the flash 45-60 degrees and shoot stright to the glass or angled down and you wont see the reflection. on the other hand shooting with the camera up always gives me reflections in the glass.
You can also play with rotating the flash to the right or left to stimulate directional light and shadows...
Using a diffusor on your flash such as an omnibounce or a flash minisoftbox also helps reducing harsh lights on your subjects.

That is correct, you stop down too larger numbers creating a smaller hole for light to pass. This gives a deeper depth of field and sharper images.

Good looking shots
