I bought 3 in my lfs a while ago. They didnt survive the transfer to the new tank so I'm getting a new harem. Just need a name now. But they come in on a regular basis.

The differences between the Carpenter's and the McCosker's wrasses is very slight, but I believe this to be the McCosker's also. My pair eat just about everything I put in there, even nori. Do you quarantine your fish? If so, you may have to acquire a surplus male to QT with the juveniles so one of them doesn't change to male while in QT. When quarantine is over, you can try to sell the odd male. These fish are accomplished jumpers and I had a juvenile jump through 1/4" mesh while in quarantine. That's why I ended up with just a pair.
No I don't have a QT tank yet. My cellar is flooded atm because of heavy snow and I have to do some construction work before I can place my QT.
I'm just gonna get 2 or 3 juveniles and a male and they'll go right into the display. Never had any problems with wrasses. I saw 3 juvies at the lfs today but got a neoguinaicus instead.
And you didn't buy them! How often do you see juvies available of a fish that you want?...and why, instead buy a questionablely 'reef-safe' wrasse that may be difficult to maintain and become large and aggresive?...just asking!
Because I wanted a neoguinaicus too and they had one in quarantine for 2 months. They have those flasher wrasses a lot so I can pick some up next time, and these little juvies didnt look as healthy as I wanted. Besides they only had three, sometimes they have 20 and I like to pick the prettiest fish instead of taking what is left. I prefer a neoguinaicus over a mcCoskers anytime btw

OK...you got me! 2 month QT'd fish...nice! sure :spin3: they aren't rare here, cheap also. About 15-20$ depending on size. Here one of my juvies who was turning into a male
Neoguinaicus is rare, a friend ordered 3 but took 2 and left 1 in the lfs. I took that last one because they are only ordered in for experienced reefers with big tanks.
