Flasher Wrasse

Do you have that Flasher Wrasse solo or in a school? If solo, how long has it been solo?

Beautiful fish.

Thanks for the complements!

The fish is solo and has been so for a little over a month now. The store I purchased this little guy from had both males and females, but I couldnt afford both of them. He seems happy as far as I can tell.

Are they generally kept in pairs?

great fish!
are they reef safe

They are reef safe.

ericriff,
I have had similar flasher wrasses in the past and my males always lost their color after about 6 mo to a yr. I think in the wild it is a male and his harem. Not to discourage you, non of mine looked that good.:)

I hope this guy doesn't lose his color!!

Melev, you're more than welcome to use the photo on you ID page and I will be more than happy to provide you with any information you need. I'm fairly sure I know enough for a helpful blurb. :)

Thanks for offering!

You know what? I did! Sorry about not replying, I'm buried in email right now. I need a second Melev to help me. :D

Haha, I know what you mean!

Let me know when you add it to the website. I'd like to see how it comes out. You can send me a pm or an e-mail. Thanks.

Eric, if you don't mind, I'm doing a project for making a Reef magazine cover, and I have been seraching and searching for a pic to use....this isn't something that is going to be printed, however I was wondering if I could have your graces to use the picture for my project, giving you credit of course for the pic. Thanx.

Marc, you're more then welcome to use the picture. I'd be interested in seeing the magazine cover when your finished also!

That's a very nice picture of Paracheilinus mccoskeri I ever saw. It ranges the Indian Ocean, and specimens mainly come from the Maldives and rarely from Kenya.

This is the Blue Flasher, Paracheilinus cyaneus, male displaying. It came from Sulawesi, Indonesia. I hope you like it, too. Please talk with me and post photos in my new column in "Reef Fishes". I will show all the 14 known species, including P. mccoskeri.

Hi all-
Some of my favorite fish!
From a friends tank:

My experience with this family of fish is they do keep their color- I feed them lots of mysis, brine shrimp etc. But they are jumpers so it's smart to keep the tank covered if you buy one. As I recall they cost about $30 to $40 here in California.
