flashing green light?

so my osmolator is having issues again... what does a flashing green "level" light mean? It wont stay solid, it's just blinking.. and it's not pumping water even though the level is low..

so yeah its now officially not working?

Only thing i can say is that the pump ran dry for a little bit before i disconnected it because the top of tank was empty.... ? But i don't get why that would make the head unit stop working?

Joel, somehow I don't seem to have gotten a notice of your post, sorry for the delayed answer. This is not a usual problem or something I have much experience with. In the past when I have seen a blinking green light it has been caused by a dead pump (running dry won't kill the pump), a short of the pump connector (salt creep or water), a bad power connection (corroded connector) or a power supply with a dead rectifier, in this case the LEDs strobe very rapidly from the AC current, so fast you almost cannot see it.

i can try to disconnect and reconnect.. don't know why i havent yet..

i guess it's not a legitimate knock on tunze since i bought it used, but this thing has been nothing but a pain since i bought it... i heard that they were the best around and the premium you pay for them was well worth it..

i've yet to see it yet =/.

Often with a used product, someone is selling there headache, the other common problem with used osmolators is water damage, as someone who is hastily tearing down a tank the controller typically gets thrown in a bucket with wet components. If you cannot diagnose it, send it in and I will figure it out.

seems to be working again, but i've got a question on it's operation?

If it takes say 3 gallons to fill the area to the proper level for the sensor to shut the pump off, is the pump supposed to pump 3 gallons constantly without stopping until the sensor tells it to stop, or is it supposed to work differently?

Mine pumps for about a second, quick splash of water hits the sump, then it goes into some sort of weird cycle with the yellow and green lights both flashing, stays off for about 20 seconds, then starts again.. pumps about 1 seconds worth of water.. then repeats. ????

It should run continuously until a fill is registered, it could act like this only if their was water splashing or driblling over the sensor or if the board has a fault or if there is some source of interference near the controller (ballast or strong magnet).

not near a ballast, its on the tunze mounting magnet, so that shouldn't matter right?

I don't think there's any water splashing on it.. i mean it's relatively close to the hose that adds water to the sump, but not close enough that i really think anything is splashing on it..

so might it be that the board has a fault as you say? If so, what's the repair?

The magnet won't be an issue if it is assembled correctly and the magnet holder is at least 12" from the controller.

Try moving the hose, any dribble or splash going onto the sensor could cause this. Generally sensors should be in the sump and the top off hose should go to the tank, they should not be near each other.

I would need to see it to figure out what is wrong, if everything else checks out, we only know something is wrong with the controller but that could be just about anything.
