Flashing LED on power supply

Is it normal for the LED on the power supply to flash in concert with the LED on the driver when in pulse mode (master)?

It could be a sign of a power supply going out. However, sometimes this occurs for the first day or so on very new pumps because the pumps haven't broken in yet.

I believe that the pump in question is a brand new Gen2, that I setup about 24 hours ago. How long should I give it before I need to get a new power supply? Can I break it in on another cycle (reefcrest rather than pulse)?

Will do, we're at > 24 hours and it is still doing it (does it slowly get better, or just stop all of a sudden?). Will post back tomorrow night and see.

Okay, 3 days running full speed on reef crest. Same thing. I swaped the power supplies between an older unit and the new unit. It appears that whichever power supply is hooked up to the new Gen 2 unit dims when the pulse occurs. The power supply hooked to the older unit does not do this, regardless of which powersupply is used.

Your thoughts?

If you have a separate pump to trouble-shoot with, I recommend you also isolate whether it follows the driver or the motor. Once we know this we can then send you the appropriate part rather than require that you send your pump in. However, if the problem is just the dimming of the LED, and it does not interfere with the function of your pump, you may want to ignore the issue as it may not be anything significant at all. We will support the product whichever decision you make.

Don't mean to hijack but my gen2 is doing the same thing. When the pump pulses the power supply light dims . Mine has been running for a few weeks.

As I said above, this is not necessarily anything to worry about. So long as the pump is operating fine a power supply which dims slightly when the pump is pulsing is not a cause for any concern.
